Throughout the hearing shot up by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Asif Saeed Khosa, the three-member seat suspended the notification, and it has issued notices to all parties, such as the COAS.
The CJP said just the president of Pakistan will expand the tenure of this military leader. The attorney general (AG) told the SC that the military leader’s tenure was extended following the president’s approval.
The seat has adjourned the hearing until tomorrow (Wednesday).
“General Qamar Javed Bajwa is named Chief of Army Staff for the following period of 3 years from the date of conclusion of present tenure,” a telling issued in the PM’s Office’d said.
The military leader was set to retire November 29.
A request was filed against the expansion in the military leader’s tenure by Jurist Foundation enticing the court to announce the expansion null and void. On the other hand, the CJP refused the program and required suo motu notice, local press reported.
The CJP stated from 25 cabinet members, only 11 had accepted the expansion. “Fourteen members of this cabinet didn’t provide any notion on account of their lack,” the chief justice said.
