Cristiano Ronaldo has achieved yet another milestone.
CR7’s successful penalty kick for Portugal againts Ukraine on Monday was his 700th goal of his career for club and country, adding another milestone to his career and inching him even closer to one of the few remaining goal records he has yet to achieve.
CR7 now has 95 career international goals, pulling within 14 of Iranian great Ali Daei’s previously unassailable record of 109. Now that mark Ronaldo wants to achieve remains in Ronaldo’s sights, even as the 34-year-old creeps toward the last stages of his career.
Ronaldo’s penalty on Monday didn’t come in the happiest of situation, as Portugal was losing Ukraine 2-0 at the time in their Euro 2020 qualifier and ended up losing 2-1, with Ronaldo being denied a late equalizer by veteran Ukraine goalkeeper Andriy Pyatov.
CR7 is the sixth player in the history of the football to reach this achievement, joining Pele, Gerd Muller, Ferenc Puskas, Romario and Josef Bican. CR7’s chief individual rival, Lionel Messi, isn’t far behind,sitting on 672.
